Biography

Highlights

Linda Zacks is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist, author, and award-winning art director whose raw, expressive visual language merges the emotional charge of painting with the lyricism of poetry. A graduate of both Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Zacks has developed a singular artistic voice that defies categorization—balancing bold experimentation with a deep reverence for storytelling.

Her work is a visceral collision of media and meaning. Drawing on a lifelong fascination with text, materials, and the overlooked residue of daily life, Zacks creates mixed-media pieces that pulse with energy and urgency. She repurposes everything from weathered wood and rusted metal to duct tape, Polaroids, and digital ephemera—nothing is too rough, too strange, or too mundane to become part of her dynamic visual narratives.

Shaped by a childhood spent moving across various parts of the United States and Europe, Zacks' nomadic roots have informed her layered, place-conscious aesthetic. Her work feels at once deeply personal and universally resonant—charged with both grit and grace.

Zacks' art has been exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad, with recent highlights including SCOPE Miami, as well as large-scale commissions for One Vanderbilt in New York City. Her public art installations include The Greatest City on Earth in Lower Manhattan; a mural collaboration at Gare Montparnasse Station in Paris; immersive design work for the Sony Style Flagship Store in NYC; and a striking brand environment for INQ Mobile at MWC Barcelona.

In addition to her fine art practice, Zacks has brought her distinctive creative vision to high-profile commercial and cultural projects for clients such as Broadway, Sony, Adobe, Viacom, Target, Sneaker Pimps, and the Sundance Film Festival. Her handmade books and typographic works have been featured at institutions including the MoMA Design Store and the International Center of Photography Museum Shop.

Whether on canvas, in print, or across a cityscape, Linda Zacks' work is a fearless celebration of chaos, contradiction, and the beautifully imperfect language of the world around us.
